Michael Bamberg (born August 17, 1947 in Hamm , North Rhine-Westphalia ) is a German physician , radiation oncologist and radiation therapist . He is the senior medical director and chairman of the board of the Tübingen University Hospital.

Life

Michael Bamberg studied medicine in Bonn, Düsseldorf and Essen. In 1974 he was with the work of epidemiological and etiological factors in breast cancer at the University of Essen to Dr. med. PhD. After working as an assistant doctor at the radiation clinic of the University Clinic of the University of Essen , at the internal and surgical department of the Mariannen Hospital in Werl and at the X-ray department of the Bundeswehr Central Hospital in Koblenz , he completed his specialist in radiation therapy. He was then a senior physician at the Essen Radiation Clinic, where he also completed his habilitation.

In 1988 he was appointed professor of radiation oncology at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen and head of the department for radiation therapy at the University Hospital in Tübingen . He was dean from 1991 to 1992 and vice dean of the Medical Faculty of Tübingen from 1996 to 1997. In 1997 Bamberg was appointed chief medical director of the clinic and later chairman of the board of the Tübingen university clinic.

Bamberg was a co-founder of the German Society for Radiation Oncology (DEGRO) and its founding president from 1995 to 1997. From 1998 to 2000 he was deputy chairman of the Association of University Hospitals in Germany (VUD) .

From May 1997 to 2004 he was chairman of the Baden-Württemberg Cancer Association. From February 1997 to 2002 he was a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of Dr. Mildred Scheel Foundation for Cancer Research . Bamberg has been a member of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina since December 1999 . From 2004 to 2008 he was President of the German Cancer Society .

Michael Bamberg has been married since 1976. There are three children from the marriage. He has been a member of the Catholic student association KDSt.V. since 1966 . Novesia Bonn in the CV . He has been a member of the Tübingen district council for the CDU since 1999 .

Bamberg has published numerous scientific papers. From 1995 to 2015 he was co-editor of the magazine "Der Onkologe".
