Michael Bucher (* 1975 ) is a Swiss guitarist , multi-instrumentalist , composer and sound designer .

Live and act

Michael Bucher lives in Zurich , where he graduated from the ACM (Academy of Contemporary Music) in 1999. This was followed by stays in New York with lessons from Peter Bernstein , John Abercrombie and Wayne Krantz . In addition to the guitar, he plays various other instruments such as the chromatic harmonica , pandeiro , lamellophone and electric bass . Together with Patrick Sommer (bass / composition) and drummer Tobias Friedli , Bucher founded the collective BucherSommerFriedli in 2004, and from 2010 onwards to a quartet with Stefan Aeby , and developed it further over the years. The band ChaChaMania emerged from this collaboration.

Current bands

Bucher's current bands are ChaChaMania with Patrick Sommer, Peter Wagner and Kaspar Rast ; Bucher's Organ Book with Thomas Bauser on Hammond organ and Lukas Mantel on drums and as a duo with singer Anne Czichowsky . He worked with Marianne Racine , Jochen Baldes , Herbie Kopf , Fabienne Hoerni, Peter Scherer , Tony Renold, Rätus Flisch and Bettina Tuor.

Film music and theater

Michael Bucher set several films to music for the artists huber.huber and most recently in 2019 the film forest tales and emerald trees by the artist Monica Ursina Jäger .

Bucher played at Theater Neumarkt in Zurich and various projects by the cultural tenor Christian Jott Jenny . Until 2009, Bucher was a member of the performance group pulp.noir. Bucher has curated the program for the Wadin Jazz Club in the Ticino Wädenswil Theater since 2017.
