Michael Diller (painter)
Michael Diller (born January 27, 1950 in Arnstadt ; † February 23, 1993 at Zella-Mehlis ) was a German painter and graphic artist .
Life
After an apprenticeship as a shipbuilder from 1966 to 1968, Michael Diller studied art education from 1974 to 1978 at the Humboldt University in Berlin . After completing his studies, he initially worked as an art teacher for a short time. Together with his friend Hartmut Hornung , he set up a graphic workshop for etchings and lithographs in Berlin and worked there as a freelance graphic artist. Inspired by the work of the artist Willem de Kooning , he began painting in 1987. Often he painted over his own etchings.
In 1993 Michael Diller died as a result of a car accident between Zella-Mehlis and Oberhof .
Works by Michael Diller are owned by the Kupferstichkabinett Dresden and the Kupferstichkabinett Berlin , among others .
