Michael Dittrich (journalist)

Michael Dittrich (born August 23, 1957 in Dortmund ) is a German sports journalist , filmmaker, author and presenter .

Life

Dittrich spent his childhood from 1962 in Ingolstadt and Abensberg . From 1967 to 1969 he attended the Johannes-Nepomuk-Gymnasium in Rohr.

After graduating from the Wilhelm Raabe School in Bremerhaven in 1976 , Michael Dittrich studied law in Munich , Lausanne and Freiburg im Breisgau . Parallel to his studies, Dittrich worked as a freelance journalist and speaker and, after completing his studies, completed an internship at the Badischer Tagblatt in Baden-Baden .

In 1987 Dittrich started in the sports department of Südwestfunk (SWF) in Baden-Baden, where he also completed a journalistic traineeship. During this time he worked primarily as a television journalist for the programs Sport under the magnifying glass and Sport in the Third , which he also presented as a presenter.

Since 1993 Michael Dittrich has suffered from chronic inflammation of the central nervous system , which causes severe paralysis and symptoms of multiple sclerosis . Dittrich has not been able to move arms or legs since 2007 and is completely dependent on a wheelchair . Due to the illness, Dittrich ended his career as a television presenter and reporter on site. Nevertheless, he continues to produce films and television features for SWR .

In 2015 Michael Dittrich caused a lot of media coverage with his autobiographical film “A Matter of Nerves - Living with an Incurable Disease”. In this film, Dittrich tells his own life story and gives a blunt insight into his everyday life and the course of his illness.

Dittrich is married and has one son.
