Michael Heim (journalist)

Michael Heim (born on November 13, 1936 in Bad Wiessee ; died on December 29, 2015 in Rottach-Egern ) was a German journalist , writer and local historian .

Life

Even as a student at Tegernseer Gymnasium, Heim wrote articles for the Tegernseer Zeitung . After graduating from high school, Heim studied modern history, medieval history and newspaper studies at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich from 1957 to 1964 , where he received his doctorate in 1964 with a biographical thesis on the journalist Spiridion Gopčević . He then worked for Münchner Merkur until 1982 , where he was head of foreign policy and chief reporter. He lived in the Tegernsee Valley until 1982, then in Munich. From 1984 onwards he was the chief editor and film author at Bavarian television . In 2000 he retired there and founded a production company, he was also the editor-in-chief of the cultural newspaper Tegernseer Tal , for which he also wrote numerous, primarily historical articles. He was also the author of the bi-weekly Seegeist columns.

In addition to his journalistic work, Heim was also the author of several books. His best-known work is the novel Aswan , which has been translated into ten languages . When the dam breaks ... from 1971. In 1984 the science fiction novel Outing into the morning appeared .

Heim also wrote scripts for cultural and industrial films and has been awarded the German Industrial Film Prize several times for his work . In 1971 he received the “The First Novel” award from the New Literary Society Hamburg.

Heim died in 2015 at the age of 79. He was buried on January 5, 2016 in the Munich forest cemetery.
