Michael Hennrich (born January 14, 1965 in Balingen ) is a German politician ( CDU ). He has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2002 .

education and profession

After graduating from the Robert-Bosch-Gymnasium in Wendlingen am Neckar in 1985 , Hennrich did his military service and then, from 1986, studied law at the University of Passau and the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn , which he completed in 1991 with the first legal Finished state examination . He then worked as a research assistant for Elmar Müller, member of the Bundestag, until 1995 and also at the Law Faculty of Rostock University from 1992 to 1993 . After completing his legal clerkship , Hennrich also passed the second state examination in 1995 and works as an independent lawyer in Unterensingen . From 1998 to 2003 he was also the state manager of the CDU Economic Council in Baden-Württemberg .

Hennrich is chairman of the owner protection association Haus & Grund Württemberg and a member of the German Family Association (DFV).

Michael Hennrich is Catholic and married and has two sons.

Political party

Hennrich joined the Junge Union (JU) as a student in 1983 and the CDU in 1984. From 1985 to 1987 he was chairman of the JU district association Esslingen am Neckar and from 1992 to 1996 deputy chairman of the district association Esslingen of the local political association (KPV) of the CDU / CSU. From 2003 to 2007 he was also chairman of the CDU city association of Kirchheim-Dettingen.

He was also a deputy member of the Committee on Labor and Social Affairs, deputy member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and the European Assembly for Security and Defense / Assembly of the Western European Union.

In the 18th legislative period of the German Bundestag, he was once again a full member of the Committee on Health as a rapporteur for the field of drug supply, pharmacies and IQWIG, and since 2015 chairman of the Health Committee. Furthermore, he was again in the Committee for Labor and Social Affairs as a deputy member. He was also a deputy member of the Legal Affairs and Consumer Protection Committee, a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and chairman of the parliamentary group of Arabic-speaking countries in the Middle East.

Hennrich was re-elected in the federal election in September 2017, receiving 39.4% of the first votes.
