Michael Hofer (born July 9, 1851 in Hasle near Burgdorf , † April 4, 1922 in Rüdtligen-Alchenflüh ) was a Swiss politician . Hofer was initially a member of the FDP and later switched to the BGB .

Life

Michael Hofer, who came from a long-established, politically active Hasler farming family, was born on July 9, 1851 as the son of farmer Christian Hofer on the Hasle-Mühle farm in Hasle near Burgdorf. There he attended secondary school and then became a farmer in Rüdtligen-Alchenflüh.

Michael Hofer, who was married to Bertha (nee Grossenbacher), died on April 4, 1922 in Rüdtlingen-Alchenflühl.

Political activity

Michael Hofer officiated in Rüdtlingen-Alchenflühl as mayor . From 1898 to 1909 he served as the radical Bernese Grand Council . After the National Council he represented the 8th constituency (Bern-Oberaargau) in the National Council until 1919 . After his resignation, he joined the BGB. Haas was a sponsor of horse breeding in the Burgdorf district , among other things as co-founder and vice-president of the Burgdorf horse breeding cooperative and as president of the Burgdorf horse insurance company . In addition, from 1881 to 1917 he was a board member of the Ökonomische Gesellschaft Bern .
