Michael Jaeger (* 1976 in Zurich ) is a Swiss jazz musician ( tenor saxophone , clarinet , composition ).

Live and act

Jaeger grew up on Lake Zurich and had a duo with his brother and current percussionist Chris Jaeger Brown at an early age. From 1999 to 2004 he studied jazz performance and education at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences , from which he graduated with distinction. He also had lessons from Donat Fisch , Anne-Kathrin Graf, Kurt Rosenwinkel and Mark Turner . He has been working in the Swiss and European jazz scene since 2004. With his quartet Michael Jaeger Kerouac (with Vincent Membrez , piano, Luca Sisera , bass, Norbert Pfammatter , drums) he has released three albums so far (2016). He also plays in the Trio Jaeger-Gisler-Rainey (with Fabian Gisler , bass and Tom Rainey , drums) and has participated in the recordings of the formations Dave Gisler's Shizzle , Jürg Wickihalder Orchestra and the Schnozgroup . Tours outside of Europe took him to Egypt and the USA. Since 2009 he has also been working with the choreographer Yvonne Meier, who lives in New York, and with artists from the fields of dance, theater, literature and electronics. Jaeger has been teaching saxophone and clarinet at the Prova Music School in Winterthur since 2004. In 2011 he was a guest lecturer at the Jazz Institute at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences. He worked as a register teacher at the youth music school in Zurich for four years.
