Michael Klöcker (born October 15, 1943 in Königs Wusterhausen ) is a German author , teacher and university professor . As a religious and educational, social and cultural historian, he is known through a large number of publications. Since 1980 he has taught at the University of Cologne .

biography

Michael Klöcker was born in 1943 in Königs Wusterhausen near Berlin. His father Wilhelm Klöcker came from a Catholic family of craftsmen in Löningen and was a master carpenter (later a businessman), his mother Ilse Klöcker, nee. Schinnerer, came from a Protestant family in Hamburg. In 1963 he made the Albertus-Magnus-Gymnasium Köln his high school and began studying at the University of Cologne, which he completed with the state examination for secondary school teachers in history and German 1969th In 1972 he did his doctorate with Erich Angermann with a dissertation on Theodor Brüggemann .

After positions as a specialist teacher at a technical college and a higher technical school in Cologne (1969–1972), he became a research assistant to Ernst Heinen at the University of Education in the Rhineland, Cologne department . In 1979, after his habilitation in the field of "History (focus on modern history) and didactics of history", he became a lecturer there. At the University of Cologne he has been teaching since 1980 (since 1984 as associate professor) in the philosophy faculty "History (focus on modern social history) and didactics of history".

Even after his retirement in March 2009, he still held university events. From 1982 to 2004 he ran the “Interdisciplinary Institute for the History of Religion” in Bad Münstereifel / Cologne on a voluntary basis together with Udo Tworuschka, a religious scholar from Jena . Klöcker's diverse activities include the publication of series of publications (on the Rhenish labor movement, on the history of religion and education, on local history), lectures and his own or supervised publications.
