Michael Kunze (born June 29, 1944 in Schwarze, Thuringia ) is a former German politician ( NDPD ). In 1990 he was State Secretary in the GDR Ministry of Transport and Chairman of the Dresden District Council .

Life

Kunze, the son of a new teacher, learned the trade of machine fitter after visiting the POS . He initially worked in the profession and obtained the Abitur at the ABF of the Bergakademie Freiberg . He completed his studies at the Bergakademie Freiberg as a graduate engineer. In 1972 he was awarded a Dr.-Ing. PhD. He became a member of the National Democratic Party of Germany (NDPD). In 1976 he was elected a member of the Meissen District Assembly. From 1977 to 1984 he was a member of the council of the Kamenz district . In September 1984 he took on the role of deputy chairman of the Dresden District Council for Energy, Transport and Communications (successor to Rolf Wagner). From June 1986 he was deputy only responsible for traffic and communications. Kunze was a member of the district assembly and member of the secretariat of the NDPD district committee in Dresden. On January 18, 1990 he was confirmed as State Secretary in the Ministry of Transport of the GDR in the Modrow government (responsible for territorial transport policy). He was released from this position after just three weeks. He was then from February 8 to May 31, 1990 Chairman of the Dresden District Council. After the district assembly ceased its activities on May 29, 1990, the district administration was placed two days later under the direction of government representative Siegfried Ballschuh . Kunze then continued to work in the district administration and was responsible for the coordination area. After 1990 he was chairman of the board of the state association of Saxony for people's solidarity .
