Michael Leveilly (also: Michael Leveillé ; * 1694 in France ; † January 23, 1762 in Bonn ) was a French architect .

Life

Leveilly was probably a student of François Blondel the Elder. J. or by Robert de Cotte . In 1717 he came to Bonn as an architectural and interior design draftsman because of the work of Elector Joseph Clemens of Bavaria to help with the realization of the buildings designed by the Parisian court architect Robert de Cotte.

In 1722 he then moved entirely to Bonn. After the Elector's death in 1723, he was taken over into the service of the subsequent Elector Clemens August of Bavaria . In 1728 Leveilly was appointed master builder and was also responsible for the gardens, in 1733 he was then chief builder. Leveilly was mainly active as an executive builder who designed the plans of François de Cuvilliés the Elder. Ä. realized, but also brought in and implemented own ideas, especially for the interior fittings. In addition to his work as a court architect, he also worked for the city of Bonn, whose old town hall he planned and built.

On February 10, 1722, in St. Remigius , he married Anna Maria Seron (1700–1741) from Bonn. The couple had nine sons and six daughters. In his second marriage, Leveilly married Agnes Gladbach on December 5, 1743 in the parish church of St. Gangolf in Bonn .
