Michael Pamer
Michael Pamer (born September 3, 1782 in Neulerchenfeld , † September 4, 1827 in Vienna ) was an Austrian composer .
Life
Pamer came from a poor background and became known as a violinist and conductor in the Rossau near Vienna . The composers Johann Strauss (father) and Joseph Lanner learned the craft of violin and viola from him. After a malignant ulcer on his left index finger prevented him from practicing his job, he died at the age of 45 in his apartment at Neustiftgasse 5 in Vienna's Neubau district .
classification
As a contemporary of the composers Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart , Franz Schubert and Ludwig van Beethoven , Michael Pamer is referred to as the early father of the Viennese waltz .
style
Elements of traditional folk music can still be found in his early compositions . His late work includes the formal structure of the great waltz, consisting of a thematic introduction , a series of several waltzes and a concluding coda. The big innovation was the separation of melody and rhythmic accompaniment he invented.
