Michael Saur

Michael Saur (* 1967 in Munich ) is a German writer .

Life

Michael Saur trained as a bookseller and moved to New York in 1994. From there he created portraits of TC Boyle , Michael Cunningham , Maurice Sendak , Gary Paulsen, Paul Auster , Susanna Moore , Steven Millhauser , Richard Ford , Martin Amis , Toni Morrison , Will Self , Robert Schneider , Abraham Rodriguez jr , Louis Begley , Joseph O'Neill and others. A selection appeared in his book Background Noise (2001).

In 2002 the novel The Hippopotamus came out. The second novel followed in 2007 with the title The Shadow Next Door . A new novel will appear at the end of 2009. Michael Saur also published a travel book about Cuba (2000) and, together with his father Karl-Otto Saur jr, a book about his grandfather Karl-Otto Saur , who was a National Socialist and served as Secretary of State for Armaments under Hitler in the Third Reich .

Saur studied literature with the deconstructivist Avital Ronell in Berlin and New York (MA).
