Magda von Dulong , actually Meta von Dülong , née Meta Zahn , pseudonym Magda Lossen (born February 29, 1872 in Giebichenstein , † May 13, 1950 in Starnberg , Upper Bavaria ) was a German concert singer ( mezzo-soprano / alto ).

Life

She was the daughter of pastor D. Adolph Zahn and Pauline von der Heydt from Elberfeld . Dülong was a student of Anton Hromoda , Amalie Joachim and Elka Gerster . She made her debut in 1895 under the stage name Magda Lossen .

A year later, on August 8, 1896 in Stuttgart , she married the tenor and later professor and singing master Franz Henri von Dülong (born February 26, 1861 in Hamm , Westphalia ; † April 13, 1944 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen ), formerly landlord on Harrersberg, District of Züllichau . The two twin sisters Ingeborg (1897–1935) and Irmela von Dülong (1897–1985), actress and reciter, come from this marriage. Since the marriage, Meta von Dülong performed under the name Magda von Dulong . She was divorced again before 1907 and was her second marriage to the entrepreneur and writer Robert Friedlaender-Prechtl .

Dülong owed her career in Germany and England mainly to appearances as a concert and lied singer as well as to joint appearances with her first husband Henri. Both together were considered the most virtuoso duet singers of their time. After the outbreak of the First World War , her work focused on the educational area.

A critic once took her as an example of bad singers who “often indulged in theatrics” , as she “closes her eyes dying at places of strong sensory stimulus and bears witness to the violence of her inner movement by convulsively folding her hands” .
