Arne Michael Thelvén (born January 7, 1961 in Stockholm ) is a former Swedish ice hockey player who played for the Boston Bruins in the National Hockey League from 1978 to 1990 .

Career

Michael Thelvén began his career as a hockey player in his hometown with Djurgårdens IF , for whose professional team he was active from 1978 to 1985 in the Elitserien , the top Swedish league. In the 1982/83 season , the defender won the Swedish championship with Djurgården . He himself was elected to the Swedish All-Star Team in 1984 and 1985. He then joined the Boston Bruins , who had selected him in the 1980 NHL Entry Draft in the ninth round as a total of 186th player. For the Boston Bruins, the right-shooter completed a total of 241 games in the National Hockey League in five years , scoring 114 points, including 24 goals. Following the 1989/90 season , he ended his career at the age of 29.

International

For Sweden , Thelvén took part in the junior division at the U18 European Junior Championship in 1979 and the U20 World Junior Championship in 1981 . At the U20 World Cup in 1981, he won the gold medal with his team.

In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo , where he and his team won the bronze medal, and the 1985 World Cup . He also competed for Sweden in the Canada Cup in 1984 and 1987 .
