Michael Vrbenský (born December 26, 1999 in Nymburk ) is a Czech tennis player .

Career

Vrbenský was already successful on the ITF Junior Tour. In 2017 he took part in both singles and doubles in all four Grand Slam tournaments . With Jurij Rodionov reached the semi-finals at the French Open and even the final at Wimbledon . There they lost against Axel Geller / Hsu Yu-hsiou in two sets. His best place was a combined 14th place.

He played his first tournament on the Profi Tour in 2016. From the second half of the 2017 season, he regularly competed on the third-rate ITF Future Tour . In the following year he was able to win his first title there in both singles and doubles. In Prostějov he played on the ATP Challenger Tour for the first time in 2018 . Together with Michal Konečný he received a wild card for the double field , but failed in the first round. In the world rankings , he made it into the top 500 in singles and doubles this year. In 2019, he won his first double title on his third appearance on the Challenger Tour. With Jonáš Forejtek he won the final in Liberec against the second seeded pairing Nikola Čačić / Antonio Šančić . They didn't give a set in the entire tournament. Through this success he improved further in the world rankings and reached a new career high with 297th place in October. For the TC Blau-Weiss Berlin he played in the 2nd tennis Bundesliga in 2019 .
