Michaela Kohlweiß

Michaela Kohlweiß (* 1973 in Sankt Veit an der Glan ) is the current state police director of Carinthia .

Professional background

Michaela Kohlweiß made her decision to study law after she was treated unfairly at the age of 17 during a summer internship. She completed her diploma and doctoral studies in law at the Karl-Franzens University in Graz . She focused on constitutional law and human rights. Since February 1, 2003, Kohlweiß has been working as a police lawyer at the Klagenfurt Federal Police Directorate, and on January 1, 2006, she moved to the Carinthia Security Directorate . There she became head of the criminal investigation department.

When the restructuring of the security authorities came into effect in 2012 , Kohlweiß was appointed the first female state police director in Carinthia and thus the first woman to head a security authority at state level.

Private

Kohlweiß is unmarried and childless.
