successes
Michel Bury took part in the Olympic Games three times . At the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles , he took tenth place in a three-position battle with the small bore rifle. In the competition with the small caliber in the prone position, he scored 596 points like Michael Sullivan , whereupon there was a jump-off for the silver medal behind Olympic champion Edward Etzel , who had scored 599 points. Bury prevailed with 18 to 16 points against Sullivan and finished second. In 1992 he finished the competition in Barcelona in the three-position battle with 1155 points in 21st place. In qualifying for the horizontal attack, he reached the final thanks to 597 points, in which he scored a further 103 points. He finished the final with 700 points in fifth place. The Games in 1996 in Atlanta were less successful for Bury. This time he only competed in the prone position with the small-bore rifle, in which he reached 31st place with 592 points and thus missed the final by four points.
In 1983 Bury became world champion with the air rifle team in Innsbruck . Three years later he secured another title in Suhl with the free rifle in the horizontal attack team competition. He finished the individual competition in standing position with the free rifle as well as in third place in the small-bore three-position competition with the team. In the standing position he was runner-up with the small-bore team. In 1994 Bury won his third world title in Milan when he reached first place in the team competition in the three-position battle with the small-bore rifle. In the team competition of the horizontal attack, he won the silver medal, while he completed the individual of this discipline on the bronze rank.
