Michele Marsching (born June 28, 1978 in Essen ) is a German politician of the Pirate Party . From 2017 to 2018 he was chairman of the state association of North Rhine-Westphalia . From 2012 to 2017 he was a member of his party in the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia .

biography

After graduating from high school in Essen in 1997, Michele Marsching began studying business administration and history at the Gerhard Mercator University in Duisburg . This was followed by a degree in computer science at the University of Dortmund , after which he studied at the IT Center Dortmund .

Since 2004, he and a partner in Dortmund have been self-employed in the field of software development . Since his election to the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament, his activity there has been suspended.

Since 2014 he has been the managing director of a sales company in Weeze .

Marsching lives in Weeze, is married and has a foster son.

Career in the Pirate Party

On June 19, 2009, Marsching joined the Pirate Party , where, among other things, he was a judge in the regional arbitration tribunal and led a working group to renew the statutes of his regional association. On February 6, 2011, he was elected chairman of the Pirate Party of North Rhine-Westphalia .

Marsching ran again on June 30, 2012 for the office of state chairman; Sven Sladek won the election .

In his renewed candidacy on April 27, 2013, he was narrowly defeated by Patrick Schiffer . On December 2nd, 2017 he was elected for the second time as state chairman of the Pirate Party in North Rhine-Westphalia. He resigned from his position as chairman in 2018 and Frank Herrmann succeeded him as state chairman.

On March 24, 2012, he was nominated at number 4 on the state list of the Pirate Party for the 2012 state election in North Rhine-Westphalia.

In the early state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2012 on May 13, 2012, he was elected to the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia via the state list .

Marsching was the spokesman for his parliamentary group in the main committee and in the petitions committee, a full member of the committee for schools and further education, and a deputy member of the committee for family, children and youth, as well as the committee for innovation, science, research and technology. He also represented his parliamentary group in the state election committee.

On August 18, 2015, he was elected parliamentary group leader in the state parliament, replacing Joachim Paul , who did not run for chairmanship again. When the pirates failed to pass the five percent hurdle in the state elections in 2017 , Marsching left the state parliament.

State election 2017

On September 24, 2016 he was nominated as the top candidate of the Pirate Party for the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2017.

Under his leadership, the NRW pirates failed in the state elections in 2017 with only 1.0% of the five percent hurdle and as a result clearly missed the re-entry into the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament .
