Mick Gordon
Michael John “Mick” Gordon (born July 9, 1985 in Mackay , Queensland ) is an Australian composer and sound designer who specializes in compositions for video games . He became known for soundtracks for games by Bethesda Softworks .
Life
Gordon is from Mackay, Australia. He started his career in 2006 as a sound designer at Pandemic Studios . In 2007 he composed the music for the video game Nicktoons: Attack of the Toybots . Between 2009 and 2011 he contributed several pieces for the soundtracks of the Need-for-Speed game series by Electronic Arts . Gordon has been working regularly for the US publisher Bethesda Softworks since 2014 and composed the music for Wolfenstein: The New Order , Wolfenstein: The Old Blood , Doom and Prey . Doom's soundtrack (2016) won the DICE Award from the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences and the SXSW Gaming Award and won the Game Awards , and the music was nominated for the British Academy Video Games Award and Game Developers Choice Awards . Gordon also composed the soundtrack for the follow-up Doom Eternal . However, since the mixing of the audio tracks was withheld from him, he terminated the collaboration with the id Software development studio in April 2020 .
Mick Gordon's soundtracks span a variety of genres including electronic music , metal and industrial . The composer experiments with recording technology and uses both modern digital technology and old analog equipment and instruments. Gordon lives in Melbourne .
