Mieke Suys
Mieke Suys (born February 15, 1968 in Gent ) is a Belgian triathlete and two-time Olympian (2000, 2004).
Career
Mieke Suys started triathlon in 1986. In 1992 and again in 1994 she became university world triathlon champion.
Her nickname is "Mickey" . In 1996, she became vice European triathlon champion over the short distance.
On the long distance triathlon she was fifth at the 1997 ITU World Championships in Nice. In 1999 she was tenth at the ITU World Championships on the Olympic distance (1.5 km swimming, 40 km cycling and 10 km running).
Mieke Suys started in both 2000 (DNF) and 2004 (22nd place) at the Olympic Games. After 2006 she did not appear internationally for a few years. She is the mother of two sons. In 2018, the 50-year-old announced she would start at the Gent Triathlon, where she finished third in August.
