Migrolino branch at Zurich-Affoltern train station

The Migrolino AG (proper spelling: migrolino ) is a Swiss provider in the convenience store region with offices at railway stations, gas stations and other places. It is a 100 percent subsidiary of the Federation of Migros Cooperatives .

Companies

In 2018, Migrolino was present at 318 locations in Switzerland. In contrast to the regular Migros supermarkets, alcohol and tobacco products are also sold there. In 2018, 255 locations were managed by the petrol station operators Migrol (100 locations), Shell (65 locations), SOCAR (60 locations) and Piccadilly (30 locations). Because of this franchising system, Migrolino employees are not included in the Migros collective labor agreement , which has led to reports of low wages and poor working conditions.

Under the name Migrolino-Wholesale, Migrolino AG has been offering its logistics and services to partners outside of Migrolino since 2014.

history

In 1998 Migros , Valora and SBB founded the Avec brand and opened shops at small and medium-sized train stations with shops, bistros and kiosks. In 2005 SBB left the joint venture, three years later Migros also left and Valora took over the Avec brand . The joint venture Cevanova, which had existed since 2000, was dissolved and the shops were split up. Together with the new partner Shell, Migros reactivated the brand name Migrolino , under which the company had entered the fast food business in the 1970s . In 2009 Migrolino AG was founded.

In 2011, Migrolino AG moved to the Migros distribution center in Suhr and set up its own logistics platform from which all branches could be supplied from the following year. In 2012, Migrol handed over the petrol station shop to Migrolino. In the following year, SOCAR (formerly Esso) entered into a close cooperation with Migrolino for their shops. Human rights activists criticized this because of SOCAR's proximity to Azerbaijani President İlham Əliyev .
