Miguel Ángel de las Cuevas Barberá , short Miguel (born June 19, 1986 in Alicante ) is a Spanish football player who plays in the Segunda División for Córdoba .

Player career

Valencia CF / Hércules CF

Miguel de las Cuevas comes from the youth of Valencia CF and first made it to the second team of Hércules CF from his hometown in 2002 . With the Alicantines he was in the 2004/05 season straight away to a regular in midfield of the Segunda División club. Other clubs quickly became interested in his services.

Atlético Madrid

In the summer of 2006, he switched to Atlético Madrid . After a strong preparation he was able to convince Atlético coach Javier Aguirre , but injured himself very badly in a preparation game, so that he had to take a break for the entire season. In August 2007, the Portuguese Champions League participant Benfica Lisbon showed an interest in Miguel, but a commitment failed.

He made his debut in a Copa del Rey match against FC Granada 74 on December 12, 2007, 486 days after receiving his contract with Atlético . On February 1, 2008, he played one half in a 1-1 draw against Real Murcia . It was his first game in the Primera División ever.
