Michael "Mike" Addy (born February 20, 1943 in Knottingley ) is a former English football player .

Career

Addy played in the early 1960s in the youth division of Leeds United , 1962/63 he was part of the reserve team around the later Leeds stars Gary Sprake , Paul Reaney , Paul Madeley , Norman Hunter , Peter Lorimer and Terry Cooper . Addy made his competitive debut for the professional team of Leeds as a youth player in January 1962: because center forward Billy McAdams was not eligible to play in the League Cup, he was used against Rotherham United in a 2-1 defeat. In his traditional position as a right runner , Addy came in September 1962 to a series of three missions, including two second division appearances against Luton Town (final score 2: 2) and FC Southampton (1: 1). Despite benevolent press reports, coach Don Revie subsequently relied on Willie Bell . Addy also received a contract with Leeds for the following season 1963/64 , but remained without use when the team won the second division championship and left the club at the end of the season in the direction of the third division club Barnsley, trained by Johnny Steele .

An injury suffered in the pre-season meant that he did not make his debut for Barnsley until February 1965, but was then used in all 14 league games until the end of the season when the club clearly missed relegation and was relegated to the fourth division as bottom of the table . In the fourth division, Addy was part of the regular team for the next two seasons, mostly as part of the runner row. In the 1965/66 season he scored five goals in 21 league appearances. At the beginning of the 1966/67 season he formed the runner row with Barry Swallow and Eric Winstanley , but was last on the grid in October 1966. After the club was also in the fourth division at the bottom of the table, Dick Hewitt subsequently took over his position. Addy left the club at the end of the season and played the following years in the Southern League , first for Corby Town , from 1970 for Kettering Town .
