Michael "Mike" Moore ONZ , AO (* 28. January 1949 in Whakatane , † 2. February 2020 in Auckland ) was a New Zealand politician of the Labor Party . Among other things, he was Prime Minister of New Zealand and Director General of the World Trade Organization .

From 1972 to 1996 he had a seat in the New Zealand parliament . Between February 9, 1990 and November 2, 1990, Moore was New Zealand's Foreign Minister , and from September to November 1990 he was Prime Minister of New Zealand . From July 1999 to August 2002 Moore was Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO). Since mid-2010 he has been New Zealand's ambassador to the USA . Moore was the author of several non-fiction books on political subjects.

He died at his Auckland home in February 2020 at the age of 71 .
