Mike Tullberg (born December 25, 1985 in Hillerød ) is a former Danish football player and current coach . He is currently employed by Borussia Dortmund .

Career

In his youth, Tullberg learned to play football at Akademisk Boldklub in the Copenhagen suburb of Gladsaxe , at Farum Boldklub and at Randers Freja . He then moved to Grenaa at the Hessel Gods Fodboldkostskole , where he completed his first years in the senior sector at Grenaa Idrætsforening .

At the age of 20, the Danish first division club Aarhus GF signed him at the turn of the year 2005/06; there he played for a year and a half. Then he moved to Italy to Reggina Calcio . For a year he was in the squad for Serie A and was used five times.

In the 2008/09 season he was loaned to the Scottish club Heart of Midlothian , but came there only to seven missions without a goal. Since his Italian home club from Reggio was relegated this season, he was looking for a new club in 2009. He went to the German second division club Rot-Weiß Oberhausen , with whom he signed a two-year contract.

The Dane's first season in the Ruhr area was a lost season due to a muscle injury that was not cured. After a torn muscle fiber and a gastrointestinal infection, the first half of the season was almost over when he came on for the first time. His fourth appearance, the first on the grid, was over after another torn muscle fiber after 22 minutes. He was then no longer available in the remaining games.

Before the start of the 2010/11 season, Tullberg was injured again and had to take a break. Without a competitive game, his contract was not extended after the 2010/11 season and he left the club. Tullberg completed a rehabilitation in the rehabilitation center of FC Schalke 04 . Almost six months later, on May 15, 2012, he ended his career because of persistent knee problems.

Coaching career

On July 23, 2012, Tullberg signed a contract with the regional division club SG Schönebeck , where he was part of the coaching staff as Christian Petereit's assistant coach from the 2012/13 season. In the 2013/14 season he returned to Rot-Weiß Oberhausen, where he was employed in the junior performance center in the performance and transition area. In the second half of the season he took over the post of coach with Thomas Hüfner for the U-19 team in Oberhausen.

In March 2017 he became the U19 coach of his former club Aarhus GF . In August 2018 he switched to Vendsyssel FF as an assistant coach .

For the 2019/20 season , Tullberg returned to Germany as the head coach of Borussia Dortmund's second team . At the beginning of May 2020, the club announced that it would use Tullberg as a training instructor for the A-youth for the following season .
