Milan Fukal (born May 16, 1975 in Jablonec nad Nisou ) is a Czech football player . Since 2013 he has been under contract with the Austrian fifth division club SV Esternberg .

Club career

Fukal began playing football in 1981 with Sokol Kokonín, when he was 13 he moved to FK Jablonec . In 1993/94 he did his military service at VTJ Karlovy Vary. He then played for EMĚ Mělník, FK Český Brod, Pelikán Děčín and Bohemians Prague within two years . For the 1996/97 season, the central defender returned to FK Jablonec and quickly played in the regular formation.

In 1999 he moved to Sparta Prague and became an integral part of the Czech national team , with which he took part in the 2000 European Championship . After the European Championship he went to the Bundesliga for Hamburger SV . In 2004 he switched to Borussia Mönchengladbach .

Fukal played a total of 109 Bundesliga games and scored nine goals.

2006 Fukal returned to FK Jablonec. In July 2008 he moved back abroad and went to the Austrian Bundesliga club Kapfenberger SV . After three years at Kapfenberger SV, Milan Fukal is returning to his homeland for the 2011/12 season, he signed a one-year contract with the Czech first division club FC Hradec Králové . After two years at FC Hradec Králové, Fukal moved to the 5th Austrian league for SV Esternberg for the 2013/14 season .

National team

Fukal made his debut on December 21, 1997 in a 1-0 win against Uruguay in the Czech national team.

Especially between 2000 and 2002 there was no getting around the defender, he made 15 of his 19 international matches. Fukal made his last international match on April 30, 2003 in a 4-0 win against Turkey .

On November 20, 2002 at 3: 3 in Teplice against Sweden Fukal acted after the departure of Pavel Nedvěd in the 68th minute as captain .
