Mileanca is a municipality in Botoșani County in Romania . It consists of the four villages Codreni, Mileanca, Scutari and Seliştea.

Geographical location

The municipality Mileanca located in the northeast of Romania in the historical region of Moldavia ( Principatul Moldovei ), in the northern part of the West of Moldova . In the Moldau Plain ( Câmpia Moldovei ) in the northeast of the Botoșani district on the Podriga river - a left tributary of the Bașeu - and the county road ( drum județean ) DJ 293, the place is 15 kilometers southeast of the small town of Darabani ; the district capital Botoșani ( Botoschan ) is located 62 kilometers south of Mileanca.

history

The place Mileanca was first mentioned in 1622; Archaeological finds that point to the Bronze Age have been made on its area .

population

In the 2002 census, 3005 Romanians , one Ukrainian and one non-ethnic were registered in the municipality . In a preliminary census of October 31, 2011, 2736 people were registered in 1217 households on the territory of the municipality.

The main occupations of the population are agriculture, livestock and fish farming.

Attractions

In the area of ​​the municipality there are no special sights to be mentioned, apart from the orthodox church in Mileanca from the 19th century and the one in the incorporated village of Codreni , which was built in 1900.
