Hans Christof Müller-Busch

Hans Christof Müller-Busch (born June 17, 1943 in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse ) is a German doctor, university professor and author specializing in palliative medicine and pain therapy .

Life

Christof Müller-Busch studied medicine , psychology and sociology at the Universities of Heidelberg , Edinburgh , Hamburg and Berlin. Since 1973, his medical and scientific work has been at the Charlottenburg Clinic, Free University of Berlin , the Rudolf Virchow Clinic in Berlin, the Herdecke Community Hospital and, until 2008, the Havelhöhe Community Hospital in Berlin. In 1980 he was recognized as a specialist in anesthesiology . He completed his habilitation at the University of Witten / Herdecke on the subject of "Pain Reduction through Creativity - Music Therapy for Chronic Pain". Since 1985 he has taught as a university lecturer at the Universities of Witten / Herdecke, the Humboldt University of Berlin and at the Institute Universitaire Kurt Boesch (IUKB), Sion (Switzerland). Since 2008 he has been the Scientific Director of the Palliative Care master’s program at Dresden International University (DIU).

Hans Christof Müller-Busch lives in Berlin and is married to the speech therapist Ricki Nusser-Müller-Busch. They have two daughters.

Focus of scientific projects and activities

His work topics are quality of life, decision criteria and conflicts at the end of life, complementary and artistic therapies for pain and in palliative medicine, euthanasia and ethics, quality development in palliative medicine and hospice care . From 2001 to 2005 Müller-Busch was a member of the Ethics Task Force of the European Association for Palliative Care (EAPC), 2006 to 2010 President of the German Society for Palliative Medicine (DGP), 2008 to 2010 member of the Central Ethics Commission (ZEKO) at the German Medical Association and from 2011 to 2019 member of the committee for ethical and legal questions of principle of the German Medical Association.
