Military History Society of the Canton of Zurich
The Military History Society of the Canton of Zurich (from 2004 to 2012 Military History Foundation of the Canton of Zurich ) is an association with the purpose of researching and safeguarding the military heritage of the Swiss Confederation in the Canton of Zurich . It serves as the umbrella organization for all military history associations in the Canton of Zurich.
purpose
The society wants to research, document and maintain the military cultural assets (springs, militaria , field entrenchments , baroque city fortifications , defensive structures of the two world wars and later) from the beginnings of Zurich's defense system to the present, as well as cooperation with all associations and institutions that deal with the Employ and maintain the preservation of military-historical cultural assets.
The main focus is on securing, taking over and maintaining the structural witnesses from the Second World War and the period of the so-called Cold War in the canton of Zurich, and making them accessible to science and the public.
organization
The company was founded with three subsidiary associations on October 27, 2004 as a foundation in accordance with Art. 80 ff. Of the Civil Code , based in the Ebersberg Fortress in Berg am Irchel , and on May 26, 2012 changed its legal form to an association.
The board of directors, committee, advisory board, secretariat, auditor and the members of the regional fortress associations work on a voluntary basis. Three former commanders of the Zurich Border Brigade 6, two former Zurich monument preservers and Zurich and Schaffhausen representatives from business and culture are committed to the foundation.
