Milt Fankhouser

Milton "Milt" Fankhauser (born October 29, 1915 in New York , New York , USA ; † February 26, 1970 in Santa Barbara , California , USA) was an American racing car driver .

Career

Between 1946 and 1950 he started in 16 races for the AAA National Series , where he achieved his best placement in Lakewood in 1948 with a fifth place in a Stevens - Offenhauser . He tried to qualify regularly for the Indianapolis 500 between 1947 and 1950 . Only the first attempt in 1947 was successful. In the race he was eliminated after just 30 laps due to an accident.

His son Merrell Fankhauser became a well-known musician.
