Mimi Leder (born January 26, 1952 in New York , New York ) is an American film director .

Life

Mimi Leder is a daughter of the director Paul Leder and her mother Etyl Leder. She began her career in the 1970s as a screenwriter on projects such as Spawn of the Slithis (1978) and Hill Street Blues (1981). In 1986, Leder began directing LA Law . In the 1990s she directed around a dozen episodes of Emergency Room for which she won Emmy Awards.

In the late 1990s and early 2000s she directed several action films and dramas such as The Peacemaker , Deep Impact, and Das Glücksprinzip . However, her main focus is on television productions.

The American Film Institute presented her with the 1999 Franklin J. Schaffner Award.

Leder is married to Gary Werntz and has a daughter with him, Hannah Werntz, who has starred in some of Leder's films.
