action

The twins Jerry and Silvia Cheminsky are robbed by the KGB because of their special telepathic and telekinetic abilities and their parents are shot during this action. They will be fed into the Mindstorm research project , which aims to use these capabilities militarily. When the US military tried to steal classified documents about the project ten years later, the mission failed, but the operation's commander, Evan Mink, was evacuated from enemy territory.

In the present of 2000, the United States took over the Mindstorm project. Jerry was trained in his mental abilities in a secret training camp in Bulgaria . When he refuses to kill his comrade David in his final exam, he is shot by the project manager Rojack. Jerry then revolts, breaks out and goes in search of his sister, about whom he learned from secret documents.

Rojack turns to Mink, who had fallen out of favor after his failed military operation and is now leading a poor existence in Dresden . He is supposed to find Jerry - with the help of Hans Martina and Jules Denton - for the CIA . In return, he is promised rehabilitation. However, the KGB also set up a special unit on the runaway. A race for Jerry breaks out.

Mink and his team can't prevent the Russians from being the first to get their hands on the siblings. When these are to be removed by plane, Jerry succeeds in eliminating his opponents thanks to his telekinesis. The plane crashes, but Jerry and Silvia escape the disaster.

Together with Mink's team, Rojack brings the two under his control - but only to hand them over to the Russians who have promised the unscrupulous Rojack a lot of money. The situation escalates and an exchange of fire ensues, in which Silvia and Rojack are seriously injured. After Jerry heals both of them through his mind, Mink lets the siblings escape. In the credits it is shown how Jerry uses his special gift as a faith healer in the future .

Reviews

“ Unfortunately, Mindstorm only turns out to be a sub-class action B-movie that isn't really convincing. [...] The overall sparse action sequences cannot convince in any way. The story is poorly thought out, moderately staged and not easy to follow in places. "

William Zabka and Judge Reinhold at the Karate Kid and Beverly Hills Cop could hardly have dreamed of earning a living twenty years later for Finnish money in a low-budget production way beyond the former iron curtain as Russian secret agents. Accompanied by passable effects, a mostly entertaining B-action fireworks starts in the brightest sunshine. Action fans are served a little more than SF fans to their satisfaction. "

- Video.de

“Category B action film with vague science fiction elements. Acceptable entertainment that suffers from the fact that the main actor can hardly be taken seriously as an action hero. "
