Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration ( Croatian Ministarstvo vanjskih poslova i europskih integracija Republike Hrvatske , MVPEI for short) of the Croatian government is the country's foreign ministry . The central task is to “maintain” all bilateral relations.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs ( Ministarstvo vanjskih poslova ) was established on May 31, 1990. In order to improve relations with the EU, an office for EU integration was founded on April 3, 1998, from which the Ministarstva za europske integracije (German: Ministry for European Integration) emerged on January 27, 2000 . On February 16, 2005, both ministries were merged into one ministry under the current name.
Emergence
In two ballots on 22./23. April and 6./7. May 1990 a new parliament elected for the Socialist Republic of Croatia. At the constituent meeting on May 30, 1990, Franjo Tuđman was elected President according to the current constitution of 1974. Zdravko Mršić became the first Minister for Foreign Affairs on May 31, 1990 (Croatian: ministar inozemnih poslova) .
