Minna-Maria Erika Haapkylä (born June 10, 1973 in Helsinki , Finland ) is a Finnish actress .

Life

Minna Haapkylä attended a Finnish-French school in her hometown of Helsinki. Together with Maija Vilkkumaa and Isa-Eerika Lehto , she played bass in the band Tarharyhmä from 1990 to 1995 . During this time she successfully completed her acting studies at the Helsinki Theater Academy from 1993 to 1997 . For two years, from 1994 to 1996, she studied in Paris at the Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique .

She found her first permanent acting engagement at the Finnish National Theater from 1998 to 1999 . She made her screen debut in 1994 in a small role in the Finnish television film Marja . Since then she has been able to establish herself as an actress for both television and film productions. She played in French films such as Selon Charlie and Die Schlange . She has been nominated five times for the Finnish National Film Prize Jussi , receiving her first award for Best Supporting Actress in 2000 for her portrayal of Kirsi-Mari Aarniala in Veikko Aaltonen's drama Rakkaudella, Maire . In 2010 she was named Best Actress for her interpretation of the Finnish spy Kerttu Nuorteva in Jörn Donner's war drama Kuulustelu .

Haapkylä was married to actor Hannu-Pekka Björkman from 2002 to 2014 . Both have two sons together. She is currently in a relationship with the actress Joanna Brille .
