Life

After sporadic encounters with cinema in the first half of the 1950s (including his only attempt to direct, Il barcaiolo di Amalfi ), the journalist Roli established himself as a reliable author of genreware during the heyday of Italian commercial cinema from 1964. He rarely escaped conventional plot patterns in his books, for example in the two collaborations with Giuliano Montaldo for his gangster films or his dark late spaghetti westerns. Up until 1978 (and again in 1985) numerous adventurous materials were created based on his books.

For the theater, Roli u. a. Sacco e Vanzetti (with Luciano Vincenzoni ) and Le confessioni della signora Elvira , which was successfully performed with Ivo Garrani and Mattia Sbragia as well as Enrico Maria Salerno and Lea Padovani .

Occasionally Roli drew as Mike Ashley or Mike Asher .
