Mirjam Helfenberger

Mirjam Helfenberger (born June 11, 1966 in Renens ) is a Swiss painter and musician .

Life

Helfenberger studied at the Bern School of Design in 1983 and then from 1997 at the Bern University of the Arts . She lives and works in Guggisberg and in the Atelierhaus Thun since 2009. Helfenberger worked for 16 years in the therapeutic residential community Soteria in Bern for young people with psychotic episodes. She also leads painting, music and table theater semesters. Since 2009 she has been leading the experimental dance group HU-dances in Bern with four other musicians .

Helfenberger's technique includes painting with oil and mixed media on canvas , paper , lacquer plates, glass and wood , as well as painting with Maizena or silicone paste on glass, which is then sandblasted and then painted with oil. Her works often show alienated views of botanical subjects or mountain landscapes.
