Miroslav Okál (born March 10, 1970 in Gottwaldov , Czechoslovakia ) is a former Czech ice hockey player . From 1988 to 2008 he played for HC Zlín in the Czech extra league .
Career
Miroslav Okál started ice hockey in his hometown with TJ Gottwaldov . On April 28, 1988, shortly after his 18th birthday, he made his debut in the last main round match for the men's team of the club against Kometa Brno , where he contributed a goal to the 7-4 victory. He then moved to the Slovak club TJ Topolčany for two years , but returned to his home club in 1991. Since then he has belonged exclusively to the squad of today's HC Zlín and completed a total of 824 games in the Extraliga and the top division of the ČSSR, the 1st division , in which he scored 218 goals. No other player in the Czech Republic has played so many games for the same club.
He also acted as captain of the team from Zlín since the beginning of the 1998/99 season . In 1995 , 1999 and 2005 he reached the Czech runner-up with Zlín. At the end of the 2003/04 season , he managed to win the championship , the greatest success in the club's history. After the 2007/08 season , Okál ended his career due to some injuries 20 years after his debut in the first division. On September 11, 2008 his jersey number 60 was banned in his honor and hung under the ceiling of the Zimní stadium Luďka Čajky as a banner .
At the end of his career he held the record for most games and most goals for HC Zlín, he was fourth in assists and second in scorer points behind Petr Leška , who scored 496 scorer points in his career for the club. Today (2018) Okál is still one of the top 5 players in the club's history.
International
Okál completed a total of ten internationals in which he scored a goal for the Czech national team . But he was never called up for a major international tournament.
