Misbah-ul-Haq Khan Niazi (also Misbah-ul-Haq ; born May 28, 1974 ) is a retired Pakistani cricketer who led the Pakistani team in all three formats of the game. With 26 wins he is Pakistan's most successful test captain.

Life

childhood and education

Misbah ul Haq was born in Mianwali, Punjab . Misbah-ul-Haq belongs to the Niazi Pashtun people and is a distant cousin of Imran Khan . Ul-Haq holds an MBA in Management. Misbah made his first-class debut in 1998, his test debut in 2001 and his ODI debut in 2002.

National career

Misbah was successful not only in international cricket, but also nationally. He led the Faisalabad Wolves in the 2012-13 season and led his team to win the Presidents Trophy and qualify for the T20 Champions League. Misbah played in the 2008 IPL for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. He also took part in national T20 leagues in Sri Lanka , India , West Indies and Bangladesh . Furthermore, Misbah signed a contract with Islamabad United in 2016 to participate in the Pakistan Super League . He is one of the most successful captains in the PSL.

International career

Misbah ul Haq had his breakthrough in the 2007 ICC World Twenty20 when he did a paddle scoop in the final against India. Misbah ul Haq had the most runs for Pakistan and the third most in the tournament. He was also the first Pakistani cricketer to top the ICC T20I Batsmen Rankings and the first, the first Pakistani batsman to achieve a half-century in the T20. Misbah was praised for his good performance in the 2009 ICC World Twenty20 , but was later criticized for his poor performance against the 2011 India Cricket World Cup .

Time as captain

Misbah ul-Haq was named captain for the first time in the Test Series against South Africa in 2010. The tour against the West Indies was successful for Misbah ul Haq and he was subsequently appointed captain in all forms of play. Misbah was the captain of the team in the T20 in 8 matches, but received criticism from former cricketers in 2012 and as a result he resigned. In 2013, Misbah was criticized for his poor performance and leadership style, but he remained the captain until the 2015 Cricket World Cup . In 2016, thanks to Misbah ul Haq, Pakistan topped the test rankings for the first time since 1988. Misbah is considered the most successful test captain in Pakistan. Misbah was also the captain of the ODIs from 2008-2015, but gave up this position after criticism.

resignation

Misbah ul Haq announced in 2015 that he would step down as an ODI and T20 player after the 2015 Cricket World Cup. His test match resignation took place after the test series against the West Indies in May 2017.
