Miss Helvetia , bourgeois Barbara Klossner (born October 16, 1980 in Diemtigen ), is a Swiss yodeler and singer .

Life

Klossner grew up in Diemtigen, where she was born, and attended primary school there from 1986 to 1995. Barbara Klossner was born with yodelling through her mother. Already during her school days she took yodelling lessons with Hans Stucki, recorder lessons with Renate Hegnauer, Schwyzerörgeli lessons with Vreni Gafner, flute lessons with Mathias Stocker and ballet lessons with Silvia Winterhalder. From 2000 to 2008 the artist moved to Geneva . In between, she spent six months in the United States to learn the English language. For ten years she has been playing with the Schwyzerörgeli at the local friends from Lake Geneva . From 2004 to November 2011 she directed the Alphüttli yodelling club in Geneva, which has been directed by Grégoire May since then. Under her leadership, the number of members almost doubled. In 2006 she completed her training as a federal. dipl. Yodelling course leader. From 2007 to 2008 she attended the School for Performing Arts in Lucerne . In 2009 she founded the women's yodel choir in Geneva. Since 2010 she has been taking classical singing lessons with Catherine Jüstrich in Bern . In autumn 2010, Barbara Klossner completed a conducting course in the Bernisch-Kantonalen Jodlerverband (BKJV). As a yodelling boom had broken out in Geneva, she decided in 2008 to quit her job to devote herself exclusively to yodelling and music. Klossner also teaches yodelling, conducting and stage presence at the Saanenland-Obersimmental Music School (MSSO) in Saanen . In 2008 she took part solo, in a duet with her mother Kathrin Klossner as well as together with the Alphüttli yodelling club at the 27th Federal Yodelling Festival and performed with yodelling colleagues Erwin Josi and Ernst Feuz as a trio under the name «Niesenblick». At the 45th Bernese Cantonal Yodelling Festival 2009 in Gstaad , she was a member of one of nine yodelling groups that were rated 1. In 2011, the album Alors, Allons-Y! Was released under her real name . Äbä Ä So! . The album was presented by Sämi Studer on September 9, 2011 on SRF.

She appeared solo on January 8, 2015 in Kurt Aeschbacher's program on the topic of “Heimatland” and was interviewed on April 4, 2017 on the SRF radio show Musik MW . Klossner also sang, accompanied by the Swiss Youth Choir (SJC), the anthem "Mir si Unspunne" written by Marc A. Trauffer in 2017 on behalf of the organizers for the Unspunnen Festival in Interlaken . Every year she has about 100 appearances as a yodeler, Schwyzerörgelplayerin, moderator or entertainer, twice in a row, in 2017 and 2018, she sang at the national celebration on the Rütli .

Internationally, for example, Klossner performed in Korea, China, Siberia, France and Belgium. She could also be seen at the Lucerne Festival .

In the musical Stilli Zärtlichkeite she is the main actress and sings the first yodel voice as "Angel". Stilli Zärtlichkeite is the only musical in the world in which there is only yodelling. It has been performed in various locations in Switzerland since 2016. An excerpt from the musical was shown on May 13, 2017 in the SRF program «potz! Musig »shown. Due to the success of Stilli Zärtlichkeite , the follow-up musical will be performed forever and ever in 2020 . In it Barbara Klossner plays the landlady Verena Nietlisbach.

In April 2018, the album E Guete ( Bern German for good appetite ) was released under her stage name Miss Helvetia . With international songwriters, they created their first own songs, which were released together with Sony Music . The premiere of their eponymous show took place on February 23 of that year at the “Zum Bären” inn in Biglen . The new edition E Guete - Bon appétit (release: August 3, 2018) shot straight to No. 1 in the Swiss charts. Since around 40% of her appearances take place in French-speaking Switzerland, the Bernese Oberland native submitted three of her successful songs in French.
