Misserode is a hamlet-like district of Schimberg in the Eichsfeld district in Thuringia .

location

Misserode lies two kilometers west of Ershausen in a depression of Misseröder Kalkrücken ( Sickeröder mountain : 386.6 m in the west and Paulitzkopf : 372.3 m to the east) in the hilly agricultural area of Südeichsfeldes . The town is connected to the surrounding villages via the county road 114 via the regional roads 2027 and 1007 .

history

The place was first mentioned in documents as Missenrode in 1479. First the swamp was drained, then it was built. Hence the name, Misse means swamp. This village belonged to the office of Bischofstein and was built three times in the past. In 2012 45 people lived in the hamlet.

Worth seeing

  • small church "All Saints" from 1905
  • a sandstone atonement cross was re-erected in the place
  • a quarry near Misserode is to be proposed as a geological natural monument to represent the geological structure of the Eichenberg – Gotha – Saalfeld fault zone .
