The Mississinewa River is a left tributary of the Wabash River in the US states of Indiana and Ohio . The river is 190 km long. Its catchment area covers 2114 km² (79 km² of which in Ohio).
The Mississinewa River rises in Darke County , Ohio, not far from the Indiana border. It flows mainly in a westerly direction. Ridgeville, Albany, Eaton, Upland, Jonesboro and Gas City are located along the river. 10 km northeast of the city of Muncie , the river turns northwest. It flows through the city of Marion . It is then dammed to Mississinewa Lake . The reservoir is used for flood protection and flow regulation. The Mississinewa River finally flows into the Wabash River east of Peru .
