Mitchell Ryan

Mitchell "Mitch" Ryan (born January 11, 1928 in Louisville, Kentucky ) is an American actor .

Life

Ryan grew up in Louisville, Kentucky. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War . He then went to the Barter Theater, in Abingdon , Virginia , where he met theater founder Robert Porterfield , with whom he made his debut in 1958 in Thunder Road . From 1966 to 1967, Mitch Ryan was part of the original cast of the Dark Shadows series . In 107 episodes he played the role of Burke Devlin until he was fired from the series in June 1967 because of his alcohol problems and replaced by Anthony George. After numerous roles in movies and guest appearances in well-known series, he took on the role of Edward "Ed" Montgomery in Dharma & Greg in 1997 , through which he became known, among other things.

Ryan also played theater on Broadway in plays like Wait Until Dark by Frederick Knott, Medea of Euripides and The Price of Arthur Miller . He was also president of the Screen Actors Guild Foundation (SAG) actors union .

Ryan has been married twice and has three children.
