Members of the Citizenship of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck (1903)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The composition of the citizenship of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck in the (supplementary) election year 1903 .

As a member of the German Confederation, later the North German Confederation and the German Empire, the Hanseatic City of Lübeck had no legislative periods for its citizens until 1919. Rather, only half of the members of the city-state's citizenship were re-elected in elections, so that the continuity of parliamentary work was maintained more strongly, but was also elected at shorter time intervals. In these supplementary elections, seats of the “other” half of the citizenry that had become vacant due to death or resignation were filled by by-election. The citizenship was convened by the spokesman , who had two deputies. The citizenship formed a smaller citizens' committee as a kind of rump parliament with extended powers. The list therefore includes both the retiring members and the newly elected members for 1903.
