Mizgin Ay (born June 22, 2000 in Batman Province ) is a Turkish sprinter .

Athletic career

For the first time in an international championship, Mizgin Ay competed in the 2016 European Youth Championships in Tbilisi . There she reached sixth place over 100 meters in 11.96 s and seventh place in the 200-meter run in 24.32 s. In addition, she was disqualified in the preliminary run with the Turkish sprint relay (1000 meters). The following year she won the bronze medal in the 100-meter run at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku in 11.71 s behind Gina Bass and Nigina Sharipova from Uzbekistan and was sixth in the 200 meters in 24.14 s. With the 4 x 100 meter relay she could not finish her race and with the 4 x 400 meter relay she won the bronze medal behind the teams from Bahrain and Nigeria in 3: 41.29 minutes. She then won the World Youth Championships in Nairobi in 11.62 s over 100 meters and won the bronze medal in the 200-meter run in 23.76 s. Only a week later she took part in the U20 European Championships in Grosseto and reached the semifinals there over 100 meters and was eliminated there with 12.02 seconds, whereas she was disqualified over 200 meters in the prelim and with the 4-time 100 Meter relay could not finish their race in the preliminary round. In 2018 she finished sixth over 100 meters in the U23 Mediterranean Championships in Jesolo in 11.70 s and eighth over 200 meters in 24.70 s. In 2019 she took part in the 60-meter run at the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow , but was eliminated there with 7.42 s in the first round. In July she reached the semi-finals over 100 meters at the Summer Universiade in Naples , where she was eliminated with 11.75 s. Over she failed with 24.34 s in the first round and also with the 4 x 400 meter relay she did not reach the final with 3: 37.94 min. Before that she was eighth over 100 meters in 11.62 s at the European Games in Minsk . Then she reached the final over 100 meters at the U20 European Championships in Borås, Sweden , in which she finished seventh in 11.66 s.

In 2020 Ay became Turkish indoor champion in the 60-meter run.
