Nigina Sharipova ( Russian: Нигина Шарипова , Nigina Sharipova ; born August 10, 1995 in Buxoro ) is an Uzbek sprinter .

Athletic career

Nigina Sharipova gained her first international experience at the Asian Indoor Championships 2014 in Hangzhou , where she was eliminated in the pre-lug over 60 meters. At the Junior Asian Championships in Taipei she won the bronze medal in the 200-meter run in 24.24 s and finished fifth over 100 meters in 11.87 s. Over 200 meters, she qualified for the Junior World Championships in Eugene , where she was eliminated with 24.68 m in the lead. In 2016 she took part in the 100 and 200 meters at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , but was eliminated in both disciplines in the preliminary round. In 2017 she won the bronze medal in the 200-meter run and silver in the 100 meters at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku . Shortly thereafter, she took part in the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar , where she finished fifth over 100 meters and was eliminated over 200 meters in 23.97 s in the preliminary round. At the beginning of September she also took fifth place over 60 meters at the Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat .

In 2018 she took part in the Asian Indoor Championships in Tehran , where she finished fourth over 400 meters in 56.29 seconds. At the end of August she took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta for the first time and finished seventh in the 100 meters in 11.45 s and fourth in the 200-meter run in 23.32 s. The following year she finished fourth and fifth over 100 and 200 meters at the Asian Championships in Doha in 11.41 s and 23.29 s.

In 2014 and 2017 Sharipova was Uzbek champion in the 100-meter run and in 2017 also over 200 meters. In 2018, she became champion over 60 meters in the hall. She graduated from Bukhara State University with a degree in physical education . Her father and trainer Shavkat Sharipov was also active as a sprinter.
