history

The French colonial administration established a canton in Moa at the beginning of the 20th century . The canton was initially dissolved in 1923, but rebuilt a little later. In 2002, as part of a state-wide administrative reform, the canton of Moa became the rural municipality of Moa. In 2009 floods attempted material damage, directly affecting 1,043 residents. In addition to the regional capital Zinder , Moa was the only municipality in the Zinder region that was affected by the flood disaster in West and Central Africa in 2010 . 308 residents were classified as disaster victims at that time. Since 2011 the rural community no longer belongs to the Mirriah department , but to the newly founded Damagaram Takaya department.
