Mob Rules is a power metal - band from Wilhelmshaven , Lower Saxony .

history

Mob Rules was founded in 1994 by Matthias Mineur, Thorsten Plorin, Klaus Dirks and Arved Mannott. Mineur and Plorin had previously played in the regionally known band Van Blanc . Two years after the founding, strengthened by Oliver Fuhlhage as second guitarist, she produced the demo EP Savage Land Part I on her own , with which she attracted the attention of various record companies. The band signed to Limb Music and released their debut album Savage Land there in 1999 , which received very good reviews. On the following tour, Mob Rules was supported by keyboardist Sascha Onnen, who later became a permanent member of the band. In the following years they released three more studio albums, all of which were very well received by the critics. The band toured with Savatage , played several times at Wacken Open Air and opened shows for Dio , the Scorpions and other internationally successful bands. They also toured with Amon Amarth and Lordi at the Wacken Roadshow.

In 2002, Mob Rules switched to the SPV record company and released their third album Hollowed Be Thy Name there . It contains, among other things, a cover version of the song How The Gypsy Was Born by Frumpy , on which Peavy Wagner from Rage is a guest singer. In 2004 Oliver Fuhlhage left the band and was replaced by Sven Lüdke. In the same year, the fourth studio album Among The Gods was released . The live album Signs Of The Time was recorded on the tours for the album and released in 2005. In 2006, bassist Thorsten Plorin quit and Markus Brinkmann took over. In October of the same year, the album Ethnolution AD was released , the six-part title song of which lasts 24 minutes and which was played in one piece on the album tour. The band photo for the album was taken in the ruins of the monastery in Hude .

In May 2007 Mob Rules played their first gig outside of Europe at the Bay Area Festival in San Francisco , California , USA . In November 2009 the sixth album Radical Peace was released via AFM Records . In terms of content, the 18-minute piece The Oswald File is worth mentioning, which deals with the assassination attempt on John F. Kennedy and bears the subtitle Ethnolution Part II . Keyboardist Sascha Onnen left the band for Love.Might.Kill and was replaced by Jan Christian Halfbrodt. In September 2011 Mob Rules played as a co-headliner at the ProgPower Festival in Atlanta . In October 2012, the seventh studio album Cannibal Nation was released, also via AFM Records ; Bonus track is the live song Children Of The Flames from the Atlanta concert. One day after the album was released, the band celebrated it at the Pumpwerk cultural center in Wilhelmshaven in northern Germany .

The 3-CD / 1-DVD box Timekeeper is released on the occasion of the band's 20th anniversary . In addition to a 'Best Of' selection and the live DVD of the 2011 performance in Atlanta, it includes two new tracks. The box also contains new recordings of band classics with various guests such as Udo Dirkschneider (at Insurgeria ), Bernhard Weiß from Axxis ( Celebration Day ) and Amanda Somerville from Avantasia ( End of All Days ) under the motto "Mob Rules & Friends" . The band celebrated their anniversary live on October 25, 2014 in Wilhelmshaven at the Break the Barriers Festival, where the bands Love.Might.Kill and Gamma Ray also performed . As a replacement for the bassist Markus Brinkmann, who had operated on his arm a few days earlier, the long-time friend of the band Mazze Glazze of the band United Four stood on stage.
