Pape Amodou Sougou or Modou Sougou for short (born December 18, 1984 in Fissel , Thiès ) is a Senegalese football player . The striker has been under contract with Sheffield Wednesday since summer 2015 , but was loaned to Moreirense FC in the second half of the 2016/17 season.

Career

Sougou joined União Leiria in the Portuguese Primeira Liga in 2004 . In his first season he came on only a few missions and moved a year later to league rivals Vitória Setúbal . There he became a regular player and won the 2005 cup final against Benfica Lisbon with his team . He then returned to Leiria, where he was an integral part of the team in the first half of the 2005/06 season . The 2006/07 season ended the club in last place and had to relegate. He moved to league competitor Académica Coimbra . After three years in Coimbra, Sougou left Portugal and joined the Romanian first division club CFR Cluj . There he contributed ten goals to winning the 2012 championship . At the end of January 2013, Sougou moved to the French first division club Olympique Marseille . He signed a contract until the end of June 2016.

In August 2013, Sougou was loaned to FC Évian Thonon Gaillard for the 2013/14 season. In August 2015, the English second division Sheffield Wednesday signed him . There he rarely made the leap into the squad and made nine appearances in the 2015/16 season . In the first half of the 2016/17 season he was not used at all and was loaned to Moreirense FC in the Portuguese Primeira Liga for half a year in January 2017 .

National team

Sougou played eleven games for the Senegalese national team . He was on the squad for the 2008 African Cup of Nations and came to two short appearances.
