The Moma ( Russian Мома , yakut. Муома / Muoma) is a 406 km long right tributary of the Indigirka in the Sakha Republic in the Far East of Russia . The Moma Mountains north of her valley, the Ulus Moma , to which her valley belongs, are named after her.
The MOMA occurs in approximately 700 m height in the valley between chersky range ( Ulachan-Tschistai Crest ) in the southwest and Momagebirge in the northeast of several smaller tributaries . It then flows in a north-westerly to westerly direction through the Moma-Selennjach depression between the Tscherski Mountains and the Momagebirge, named after the Moma, until it flows into the Indigirka a little south of the Arctic Circle (at 192 m altitude).
The Moma catchment area covers 30,200 km². Near the mouth, the river is up to 250 meters wide and 2.5 meters deep; the flow rate is 1.6 m / s. The most important tributaries are Taryn-Jurjach (length 88 km) from the right and Tirechtjach (160 km), Buordach (119 km) and Erikit (184 km) from the left.
The moma freezes from late September / early October to late May / early June.
The lower and middle reaches of the Moma are rich in rocky rapids , the river branches into many arms here. The river is not navigable.
Over its entire length, the Moma flows through the district of the Ulus Moma ( Russian Момский улус, yakut. Муома улууһа) of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia), which is named after it . The ulus administration center Chonuu is located at the mouth of the Moma , and the village of Sassyr on the upper reaches .
